Today’s readers have no time for cookie-cutter casting. What makes a main character sparkle? How do you identify the best lead to navigate your story? Unforgettable protagonists anchor bestsellers and steer your writing process. This two-hour character class will teach you to embrace and expand popular tropes to focus on showcasing your voice, setting your story’s hook, and creating leads worth following.
11:00am – 11:15am Break
11:15am – 12:15pm First Pages Agent and Editor Critique Session
A first page can either grab an agent or editor’s attention or scream hard pass. Find out what makes a first page stand out—both the good and the bad—as our industry experts read aloud a selection of anonymously submitted first pages. Panelists will share their thoughts on what stands out, both positive and negative, offer constructive feedback, and tell us why they’d keep reading or set the manuscript aside.
